The first Summer Adjudicated Events Best Practices Mini-Conferences are now history. Fifty-five music teachers from around the state attended one of the three sessions held at OSU, Akron, and Cincinnati in June and July. Those in attendance were able to participate in clinics with topics including Adjudicator Expectations, the new Adjudicator Evaluation System, Using the SD Recorder, The Middle School Critique, High School Sight Reading, Judging Middle School Orchestras, Judging Solo and Ensemble Festivals and Common Rules Infractions.
The sessions were led by Adjudicated Events Committee members Brian Stevens, Pam Thiel, Bill Thomas, JD Lattore, former member Ray Vermilya and Director of Adjudications, Bill Guegold. Attendees were able to receive CEU hours and credit for their required biennial adjudication seminar.
Comments by those in attendance included “This is the perfect time of year for me to attend these.” “It was great to have some extra time to cover topics that we don’t usually have time for in a regular adjudicator seminar.”
Planning for next year’s summer mini-conferences will begin this fall. If you have ideas for topics you’d like to see covered email Bill Guegold at adjudications_director@omea-ohio.org.
