This OMEA Professional Development Clinic is for current and future OMEA adjudicators as well as college music education majors. It replaces the Adjudicators’ Seminar that used to take place on Saturday morning at the conference.
5:00 PM – Opening Session (Guzzetta Hall -‐ Room TBD) – Introduction – Topics include Adjudication Standards, the OMEA Adjudicator Evaluation System (AES), Using the SD Recorder, Common Issues for All OMEA Adjudicators
5:45 PM – Meet the Composer – James Curnow (Guzzetta Hall Atrium)
6:15 PM – Observe OBDC Honors Band Rehearsal/Mock Adjudication Session (Guzzetta Recital Hall) – Attendees will be using their SD Recorder and/or large group sheet for a “mock” adjudication using the OBDC Honors Band as a clinic ensemble. Please bring a clip board and writing utensil as well as your SD recorder and a blank SD card.
6:45 PM – AE Post Adjudication Wrap-‐Up (Guzzetta Hall Room TBD) – Attendees will review and discuss the Honors Band performance as it relates to verbal and written comments, suggestions for improvement and adjudication standards. Attendees may also leave their recorded SD cards for critique and evaluation by the Director of Adjudications.
7:30 PM – UA Faculty Recital (Guzzetta Recital Hall) – Everyone is welcome to remain for a recital by members of The University of Akron School of Music Faculty.
