Instrumental Sight Reading Tips!

The following is from a handout associated with the AE BP session presented at the 2016 OMEA Conference. This information is designed to be helpful to participating directors and adjudicators.

Do you have ideas you’d like to share with your colleagues on this or other AE topics? Send them to Bill Guegold adjudication_director@omea-ohio.org.

Key ideas:

“You can’t sight reading something you’ve never seen before.”

“Don’t relax in the sight reading room.”

“Use both 4-minute periods to the fullest. Every member of the ensemble should be engaged the entire time.”

“Last impressions are lasting impressions.”

“It’s OK to invite your administrator into sight reading – but remind them not to take pictures.”
